I could see a concept like this working really well here in Ukrainian Village:
- Historic buildings that don’t always have laundry on site
- Existing laundry facilities nearby that are pretty dingy and depressing
- Environmentally conscious young people who’d support a new local “third place” like this one. Even though I have laundry in my basement, I’d probably come here to hang out, especially if they had free wi-fi.
On a related note, can we get a decent gym?
A perfect video for what feels like the first fall day in Chicago, as we’re all wondering how summer could have gone by so quickly.
The 36 Hours column on Page 10 this weekend, about Chicago, misstates the name of a well-known shopping district along Michigan Avenue. It is the Magnificent Mile, not the Miracle Mile. The column also misstates the distance from the “L” to Logan Square and to the popular Hyde Park neigborhood. Logan Square is about five to six miles, not two, and Hyde Park is about seven miles, not four. And the column describes the academic calendar of the University of Chicago incorrectly. The school is on a quarterly system, not semesters.
