I heard about this concept this morning on NPR.  It’s refreshing to see this kind of big-picture thinking coming from the restaurant industry.   Definitely not something that would work for every brand, but I’m sure some brands will be paying close attention to the success of this new business model.

foursquare: We've just made the "Places" screen... →
The problem with smart phones is that they’re good - but not great - at knowing exactly where you are.  Along with occasionally being told I’m thousands of meters away from a location in which I am standing, I’ve been noticing the clutter on Foursquare quite a bit lately.  Glad to see that they’re on it, and I hope that this update takes care of it.
